& unlimited: the elements

To accompany my newly designed blog & logo, I thought I would take a second to introduce you to one of my newest ideas: & [unlimited]‘s elements.  With every session I have done, I’ve come to realize these underlying elemental qualities of the people, pets, and places I photograph.  My goal from the get-go has always been to capture the unlimited possibilities and qualities that life sets up, but now, I’m hoping to more clearly display what I mean by this.

A lot of photographers come home giddy with excitement from their most recent session and rush to post a “sneak peek” photo of what’s in store to come.  I’ve posted quite a few sneak peek photos in my time as a photographer and blogger, but from here on out, I think I’ll add an elemental twist.

From now on, before posting each shoot, I’ll choose a photo or two taken during the session (or wedding) that will help me to more clearly define the unique way that shoot appealed to me.  I never come to a shoot with the elements picked out, they’re created by my subjects: the couples in love, the happy children, the carefree dogs, the inspiring musicians.  They dictate how I react, how I compose and how I shoot.  They dictate me as a photographer.  These elements stick with me through the shoot, through my editing process, and all the way to the client’s hands, ensuring that every photo I take, uniquely reflects the subject, their lives, their love, their happiness.

These are just a few of the unlimited elements that fall between the brackets – within the lens.
