portland, maine engagement: diana and lane

I met Diana & Lane at the & unlimited studio one dark, winter evening after they got off of work.  We chatted & laughed over hot cider for awhile and I was immediately taken by how they interacted with each other- sweet & playfully witty.  I couldn’t wait to get home and tell Michael about what a pleasant couple they were!  Surely, you can imagine how delighted I was to receive an e-mail from Diana a few days later asking me to photograph their August Freeport wedding.  Yay!

Even in front of the camera, Diana & Lane were that same fun-loving couple I met at the studio back in January.  They were just so comfortable having their photos taken together!

Thinking back to our first meeting in January, I was probably most excited to hear that Diana & Lane had a chocolate lab named Sidney.  You know me and dogs, especially labs . . .

We found a nice. quiet spot along the Portland waterfront where the tried its very hardest to come out for us!

After we finished up in Portland, we headed to one of my favorite shooting locations, Mackworth Island.  Diana & Lane take Sidney to walk & swim here, so it was a must-visit during our engagement shoot.  Look at Sidney’s bandana and tell me it’s not adorable on her!

These two are some of my favorite shots from the day.  The skies literally just opened up and it began to pour.  But could I have asked for better sports?  They were totally cool with shooting a few more shots in the rain.  Oh, and how cute is the frisbee-crazed Sidney in the back right shot?  The rain clearly did not bother her a bit, and she fully expected Lane to keep up the frisbee tossing.

At this point, we tried to seek shelter in the trees, but it was just raining too much.  Again, Diana & Lane had such good attitudes about the turn in the weather.

Wow.  I’m not sure I’ve laughed that hard during an engagement shoot before- that rain had us all cracking up!  Too fun!  Thank you, Diana, Lane, and Sidney for such a wonderful evening, despite the crazy rain!
