orvis on film.

Oh, my!  I just – literally just- downloaded the scans from the first roll of film I sent off to Richard Photo Lab, and I am absolutely in love with the results.  In the last year or so I have found myself incredibly drawn to the look & feel of film, and it wasn’t until a couple of weeks ago that I decided to give it a go myself.  Since this was pretty much a just-for-fun roll, I decided to take a few shots of my favorite go-to model- Orvis.

I’m thrilled to start incorporating more film into my work this year, and look forward to attending a workshop in New York this spring hosted by one of my favorite wedding photographers.  Hooray!  Happy snow day, everyone!

  1. I love film!!!! I miss it so much :) I’m hoping to start doing some more fine art stuff with film this year. I really want to put a darkroom in my basement and even do some prints from digital printed negatives for clients on fiber paper- I just love the feel of real photo paper and the smell of those chemicals :)

  2. AH! love these! I love the little bit of a rosey hue they all have. Was this portra film!? I also love the first pic where it looks like Orv has a mufasa-esque mane but I’m pretty sure it’s his hips! He is like, “wut.” Bravo! (still waiting for my rolls!)

  3. Oh, Orvis – each pose more adorable than the last! :) I love film – glad you are having fun and getting back into it!

  4. These photos are awesome! My nephew Orvis is an awesome model. So glad you’re going back to your “roots” with film :)

  5. I told my daughter I am going to start teaching her about photography on my 1970something Canon that I learned on. There is something about it that cannot be duplicated! And honestly, Orvis on any medium is a good thing:) Love the third one- the lab version of the thinking man!
