maine engagement session: samantha and graham!

I’ll never forget the excitement I felt when I found out that my friends, Samantha & Graham, were going to be engaged.  It was the morning of April 7th and as usual, I was checking my e-mail while I was brushing my teeth, as I was on my way out the door to go down to Boston for the day.  I read Graham’s e-mail and literally squealed -while brushing, mind you- with delight- he was planning on asking Samantha to marry him in a couple of months, and they had decided a long time ago who they wanted their wedding photographer to be . . . me!  Me!

I was honored for a few reasons- Samantha & Graham, or Gramantha, as they jokingly refer to themselves, are wonderful people & great friends.  I’ve known Sam since we lived together while studying abroad in Florence, Italy.  Graham is also a photographer down in Chapel Hill, and the honor of being asked to photograph the wedding of another photographer is nothing short of enormous.  And they’re Bolo’s parents.  That alone is reason enough to be super excited about their wedding!

Samantha & Graham e-mailed me about planning a trip up to Maine this summer before I even knew they were going to be engaged.  Michael and I were, of course, excited to have them visit for a few days!  Once Graham knew that he was going to propose before their trip to Maine (it happened in June, in case you’re wondering!), he decided it might be fun to take some engagement shots while visiting us.  You know I’m always up for shooting cute couples, especially those with a celebrity name like Gramantha.  We started off at our neighborhood ice cream shop, Willard Scoops.  They were just too cute!

Then we headed back to our yard for some shots with Bolo!  We put Orvis inside, because he’s quite the camera hog, and he waited by the door the entire time.  True love.

Like a lot of dog owners, Samantha & Graham simply adore their sweet Bolo.  I really think you can distinctly see their complete adoration for their dog in these two photos.

Bolo & Orvis were reunited once we headed to one of my favorite fields in Cape Elizabeth.

And then we headed to another favorite Cape destination- Kettle Cove!

Oh, goodness!  Could I be any more excited for their Chapel Hill wedding next June?  Nope.  Sure not!  Thanks, you two-we had such a great visit with your cute little family and cannot wait for the time we all get together.
