magazine mondays: vases!

After last week’s Magazine Monday disaster with the homemade salt caramel ice cream from Gourmet, I decided to go with something a little safer for this week’s post.  The summer issue of Martha Stewart Weddings features several stylish cost-cutting ideas for your upcoming wedding in The Well-Spent Wedding.  It’s where I found the free font, Lane sans serif for the Save the Date cards I created for the ever-cute Cara & Matt.  On page 201 of the summer issue, the editors at MSW suggest using bud vases as centerpieces.  Sound familiar?  You might remember seeing the super cute bud vases from Ikea in the pictures of Chelsey & David’s Moosehead Lake wedding.  Perhaps the MSW editors stumbled across Chelsey’s blog? 

Rather than trying to find new vases of my own (I checked Ikea last week and they were sold out!), I ventured down into the basement of our new house to rummage through the old glass bottles that have been left there over the years.  I picked up some gerbera daisies (some of my absolute favorites!) while shopping at Whole Foods this morning and… voila! 

Super fun, super cute & super easy!  Much better than the salt caramel ice cream!
