magazine monday: a spring picnic!

As a photographer, most of my work outside pretty much requires good weather.  And if the weather is absolutely beautiful?  Well, that just makes my life & my work that much more fun!  This weekend was one of those weekends where just about everyone you talked to made some sort of comment about the incredible weather.  Having scheduled two shoots this weekend, I was downright giddy that the weather turned out to be so perfect!  It was only natural that Michael, Orvis & I wanted to spend as much time outside as possible.

In this month’s issue of Everyday with Rachael Ray, the feature “Into the Great Wide Open,” offers a few great tips on how to make the most of the spring season.  Their advice: pack a picnic & head outside with your dog, your friends or your beau.  Lucky for me, I got to enjoy Sunday’s beautiful weather with all three suggested companions!

My recipe for a successful spring picnic?  A comfy blanket (whose colors just so happened to suit these three Carolina alums perfectly!), yummy snacks & great company!

Our fabulous friend, Julia, who has made several star appearances on Magazine Mondays – mainly because she loves them so – planned a wonderful surprise afternoon picnic for the four of us!  We had a delicious lunch, enjoyed an oh-so-scrumptious brownie & ice cream dessert, played in her backyard, and took a stroll through downtown Yarmouth & Royal River Park- a truly spectacular spring afternoon!

I hope you all enjoyed an equally beautiful spring weekend!  Happy Magazine Monday!

Believe it or not, I wasn’t simply trying to finagle my way into another Magazine Monday post ….but clearly I am trilled to get a nod! I had so much fun yesterday – we should do that more often …and maybe even venture to a picnic local more exciting than my back yard!

It was an amazing weekend! I got out with the family and enjoyed it as much as the blackflies would allow! I love Orvis’ face in the last shot!
