magazine monday: sedums!
From the moment I saw the gardening feature on sedums in the September issue of Martha Stewart Living, my Magazine Monday wheels began turning. Was I really ready to do a gardening post for Magazine Monday? The whole idea just seemed a little out of my league. Michael & I, although we love it, admittedly know nothing about gardening. This could, after all, result in 2010′s version of the epic salt caramel fail.
Just as I began to give up on the idea of planting a few sedums in our yard for a Magazine Monday feature (I temporarily set my sights on the pasta recipe on page 184), I began to notice them everywhere- even in our own backyard! Those tall, lovely plants that have been growing right next to our echinacea plants all along finally had a name. And I was determined to plant a few more of these beauties for our enjoyment!
Michael & I made our way to our local garden center yesterday, which happened to be during their annual fall perennial sale. We came away with five sedum plants and two salvias (simply because they were pretty and on sale) for under $25. (What a steal- we’re really considering going back for more this week!) We came home, got to work, and voila- our little sedum masterpiece!
Fingers crossed the sedums survive Orvis’s love for chasing squirrels along the back fence! Happy Labor Day- I’ll be back in the studio tomorrow with the first part of the lovely island wedding I photographed on Saturday.

Lovely! Glad Orvis seems to be enjoying them :)
So pretty! love the new addition, let’s hope Orvis doesn’t trample over them! :)
Gorgeous colors! My dog has totally flattened my lily bed this year playing frisbee. Turns out it is much quicker to go through them than around!
my beautiful boy …he is still so handsome…and the sedum is pretty too..
