magazine monday: martha’s apple-cranberry crumble

After a week of playing catch-up from my travels, shooting five different sessions and playing a somewhat decent hostess (despite the craziness!) to our house guests, Michael & I decided to take Sunday off.  We slept in and enjoyed a lazy morning with our guests before they left to go back down to North Carolina.  Having not been to the movie theater in forever, (well, forever for two movie lovers like us was really only a two and a half month hiatus) we decided to relive our literary childhood dreams and go see Where the Wild Things Are.  After a late leisurely lunch, we headed back to the house to find a good use for the two bushels of apples we picked in New Gloucester the previous day with our guests.  It didn’t take us too long to settle on the Apple-Cranberry Crumble from the October issue of Martha Stewart Living.

Oh, Martha, you continue to leave Michael & I amazed by, and craving seconds of, your delectable desserts!  We loved the tart kick, added by the fresh cranberries, that our usual go-to apple crisp recipe did not give us (sorry, Mom!)
