magazine monday: greenwich village food tour!

In light of last week’s terribly sad news about Gourmet magazine closing, I thought I would pay the publication a little tribute for this edition of Magazine Mondays with Meredith.  To honor the decades of talent behind Gourmet, I decided to write about the New York Food Tour I enjoyed with my mother this past weekend!  Lots of cities around the world offer these fantastic culinary tours as a delightfully unique way to experience a city or neighborhood.  Gourmet often provided its readers with a run-down of a particular city’s finest neighborhood eateries, a magazine-inspired food tour, if you will.

Our food tour led us through the quaint little Greenwich Village and left us quite full.  My stomach is grumbling just thinking about the bread, cookies, cheeses and pizza we enjoyed last week!

The next time you’re in New York, you must head down to Greenwich and check out these scrumptious spots:  Murray’s Cheese Shop, Joe’s Pizza, Faicco’s Italian Specialties, Amy’s Bread, Milk & Cookies Bakery, Centro Vinoteca & Rocco’s Pastry Shop! Or, if you’re in Portland, join Michael and I for our city’s own food tour, Maine Foodie Tours.  We haven’t tried it yet, but we’ve heard only fantastic reviews!
