getting ready with sarah and chad!
Chad & Sarah planned their Camden, Maine wedding around the idea of a Vintage Summer Garden Party. Poppies, the perfect representation of the warm summer months to the couple, were used throughout the design of the day in nearly everything from the invitations to the boutonnieres. Sarah, a crafty & creative lover of all things homemade & lovely, took it upon herself to make several of the details you see here herself. Really, Sarah is quite an inspiration. On more than one occasion, I’ve wished she could come over and help me out with a potential disastrous Magazine Monday project. It seems as though everything she touches turns out just as pretty as can be!

Sarah sewed these sweet tags inside the clutches of her bridesmaids & mother, and on the back of the men’s Vineyard Vines ties. What a perfect touch!

The Russian tulle hair comb that Sarah wore on the day of her wedding is just another one of her many wedding projects!

Sarah had a lot of fun in creating a unique alternative to the traditional bouquet. Instead of carrying flowers, the four Matrons of Honor each carried a floral fabric clutch. The fabric also matched the three glass vases delphiniums, lilies, and dahlias displayed on the church altar. Each Matron also wore a hair clip, beautiful crafted by Sarah.

I’d been looking forward to Chad & Sarah’s wedding for several reasons since they booked me last summer, but her bouquet was definitely one of the details I was most looking forward to photographing. Sarah crafted her wedding bouquet from vintage flower brooches that she collected from her family, friends, and vintage shops over the last year. Was it not just fabulous? (I thought her J.Crew shoes were a little fabulous too, myself!)

I love the laid-back feeling of this shot of Sarah & her Matrons before the ceremony!

Stacey Hedman came up from Cape Cod to help me cover Chad & Sarah’s wedding day. It was so much fun to work alongside her, after she finished up getting a few shots of Chad & the guys. Sarah’s wedding present to Chad was a custom print from J. Hill Design (remember how much I love her work?) detailing their trip to Newport, Rhode Island last year, where Chad proposed. He was so surprised, and truly loved the significance (and beauty!) of the gift.

One last toast before heading to the ceremony!

Oh, my! There is so much more poppy-infused eye candy and sweet Chad & Sarah moments coming soon!
Lovely!
Wow, Sarah is so talented!
I flew up on a whim to see RLM play at The Beacon in NYC last fall. He did not disappoint. He played solo on the stage, just him and his guitar. Every song was gut-wrenchingly beautiful. I was sad he didn’t play Hannah, but he is my all time favorite. I’m sure you had a blast — what a great getaway!
I love that they stepped away from the traditional and she created so many personal details! That bouquet is absolutely amazing!!! Can’t wait to see more!
What a creative bride!
What a wonderful job and beautiful website/blog. Love your work! :)

Wow, what wonderful colors, and I love poppies. A great theme for an August wedding.
Love the details and the colors so much! The brooch bouquet is the best! Great photos!
