first look: mackenzie and philip!
After MacKenzie finished getting ready, it was time for Philip to arrive at the inn for their First Look! Philip & MacKenzie were kind enough to write a few words describing their experience with seeing each other before the ceremony for this blog post . . .

From Philip: “The first look idea just makes sense. It’s courteous to your guests, who don’t have to wait for 30-45 minutes at the reception for the two of you to arrive. You get the exact same effect of pictures of the groom seeing the bride for the first time, but with first look photos, you aren’t restricted to this moment taking place in the ceremony venue; you can choose a more creative and fun setting. I believe Meredith was better able to capture this moment (free from the distraction of other variables during the ceremony) in the lawn outside of our hotel. I had time to actually savor that moment (verses having to rush through it in real time during the ceremony) and really enjoy seeing MacKenzie for the first time in her wedding dress. Meredith captured all of it beautifully.”

Charlie came by for a few photos before he had to leave for the church to secure his front row seat!

“From MacKenzie: “At first, I thought it would be breaking tradition to have photos taken before the ceremony. But after hearing from a few of Meredith’s previous brides, I knew it was not only the smarter way to plan our wedding day, but there would be meaningful and genuine photos of our first moments seeing one another before we said our vows. I was so nervous to see Philip but Meredith made it so easy and fun! When he turned to see me on the lawn, I could see in his eyes the surprise and excitement and it made me feel really special. After the ceremony we could relax on the lawn with our families and drink Izze Pops, and avoid the traditional marathon photo session- which we loved.”

This may be my favorite shot of the day!

The Inn at Ragged Gardens was a beautiful setting for photos!

When Michael & our stepfather popped into the Bob Timberlake gallery, they happened to meet Bob Timberlake himself! They told him that they were in Blowing Rock for a wedding, and Bob felt the need to send Ed & Michael with a gift for MacKenzie & Philip. He ran to his car and retrieved his small water color set, and included a note that read: “For your first born artist,” with their names & wedding date on the outside. I was literally blown away with how thoughtful & kind he was!

More cuteness at the inn!
