engagement sessions!
During my client meetings with brides and grooms, I often have the chance to explain why I include an engagement session with every wedding I photograph. I tell them that shooting engagement sessions is one of my very favorite parts of being a photographer. Fact. Actually, it was this love for photographing such a casual documentary of love, that lead me to expand my portrait business to include wedding clients. Simply thinking about photographing a couple in love brings a smile to my face.
Not only do I have a crazy amount of fun shooting these sessions, I value the fact that doing so gives me about two extra hours to get to know my clients. Those two hours certainly end-up coming in handy on the couple’s wedding day, since I have had the chance to understand what makes the couple click in front of the camera and familiarize myself with each couple’s unique relationship dynamics. Those two extra hours always show in the final product- the couple’s wedding day photographs.
Establishing a personal connection with my clients has always been essential for me. In my opinion, I believe that I am much more qualified to accurately document a couple’s wedding day if I’ve had the opportunity to get to know their interests and style, and most importantly, how they interact with each other. I’d rather drive hours to meet clients for an afternoon at their local coffee shop to get to know them, than to chat over the phone, and it’s that dedication towards a relationship with each of my clients, that allows me to happily report that I have already spent time, in person, with each one of my 2010 wedding clients.
As I continue to book more weddings for 2010 and into 2011, it’s only natural that I am becoming quite excited about my upcoming engagement shoots.
