jess and jon!

After spending an afternoon with Jon & Jess, I felt like I’d known them for years. They’re really just that warm & friendly. I’m so happy that I had the chance to meet the two of them down in Boston one afternoon a few weeks ago. Although they currently reside in Chicago, Jess & Jon lived in Boston for ten years together. So, naturally, the city holds a special place for these two college sweethearts who met at UVM!

Thank you both for such a wonderful time! September’s wedding festivities in Stowe simply cannot come soon enough!

nina and hong!

When I met Nina & Hong at a coffee shop in Portsmouth back in September, they asked me what I thought of them coming up to Portland for their engagement shoot. They explained that they’ve spent their whole lives in Boston, and they thought that engagement photos would be the perfect opportunity to explore a new place. Of course, I thought it was a wonderful idea. I also thought that their request spoke volumes about their fun-loving, adventure-seeking personalities. Since meeting Nina & Hong, I’ve come to learn that they share a love for experiencing new places together. While they were up in Maine, they spoke of their trips to faraway places like Alaska & Spain- where they got engaged! (In fact, they’re currently en route to Hong Kong as I type!)

After their engagement shoot, Michael & I joined Nina & Hong for dinner at El Rayo, one of our go-to Portland restaurants. Afterwards we walked through Portland and attended a craft fair in celebration of the First Friday Art Walk. Throughout the evening I could tell that Nina & Hong were so happy to be sharing an entirely new experience like this with each other. Seeing that firsthand just made me smile.

I had the most fun down in Newburyport, MA earlier this month when I met Jean & Jeremy for their engagement session! Upon Jean’s recommendation we met up at one of the most beautiful locations, Maudslay State Park. Not only was the park lovely and full of fall color & New England charm, it was over sixty degrees . . . in November! After finishing up at Maudslay, we drove over to Plum Island. This was my first time on Plum too- what a gorgeous, peaceful setting. I cannot wait to return to both locations!

Jean, Jeremy, and their beabull puppy, Brody, are such a little cute family of three! Brody is clearly the shared apple of Jean & Jeremy’s eyes- everything he does makes them break out in laughter. (Rightfully so, he’s a pretty adorable little guy!)

Thank you both for introducing me to two lovely spots in Massachusetts! September cannot come soon enough!

I met up with Joey & Kim (and their cute dogs, Josie & Kenan!) earlier this month when I was down in North Carolina. Although I’ve known Joey since college, it was my very first time meeting Kim. After spending just a couple of hours with them, it’s plain to see that Joey & Kim are the very best of friends. It’s evident in everything they do- from playing with their sweet dogs to walking, hand in hand, by a picturesque pond. They simply couldn’t imagine sharing these simple yet beautiful moments with anyone else.

The following are just a few of my favorites from our beautiful fall evening in Durham. I am so excited to be a part of Joey & Kim’s wedding at Fearrington this fall!

Lindsay, Cory, and I experienced the most perfect fall weather for their engagement session in Chapel Hill earlier this month. Being three UNC alums, we particularly enjoyed walking around campus, sharing various college stories. I had such a great time chatting with these two and taking pictures of them here & there. They’re getting married at the Carolina Inn this February and I’m basically counting down the days until their wedding. A wedding of two UNC graduates at the Carolina Inn- it couldn’t be a more perfect and appropriate celebration for Lindsay & Cory! (I might be just a tad bit biased, but Carolina weddings are always some of my favorites . . .)

The following are just a few of my favorite photos from our afternoon on campus together. I’m so lucky to be headed back down to Chapel Hill in a few short months to photograph their wedding. Hooray!

Just a couple of weeks ago, Michael & I spent a lovely, but quick, fall weekend in New York. In addition to eating great food and catching up with friends, I had the chance to photograph Virginie & Dan’s engagement session. We met up in the West Village and meandered our way through the city until we ended up at their home, near Washington Square Park! Virginie was a bridesmaid in Nina & Aaron’s wedding last September, and I was delighted when she contacted me about shooting her wedding in . . . France! Of course, I am counting down the weeks until Virginie & Dan’s summer wedding outside of Lyon!

Sarah & PJ are simply adorable! When Sarah contacted me earlier this year about shooting their wedding in the mountains of North Carolina next summer, I was incredibly excited! Everything – from the description of their vision for the wedding to their sweet college romance – sounded just perfect to me. Plus, Sarah & PJ live in the cutest apartment in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood, so it would work out quite easily for me to photograph both their Boston engagement session & their Southern wedding!

We met down in Boston a few weeks ago, and I felt like I could have talked to these two all day long. Here are a few favorites from our perfect fall afternoon together!

This engagement session makes me so happy! Taylor & Dan came to meet me in the studio back in May, and after spending some time with them, chatting about their wedding plans, I couldn’t wait for their wedding next summer! A few months later, Taylor e-mailed me with the exciting news that they’d gotten a puppy! A black lab puppy! (Of course, I’m a sucker for any type of puppy, but black labs are clearly some of my favorites.) This news also meant that we would be including sweet little Ruby in their engagement photos- just another reason to be excited about working with Taylor & Dan!

The following photos were all taken on film one October afternoon around Small Point & Phippsburg, Maine. Taylor & Dan were so kind to show me around this area of the Maine coast that is so incredibly special to them. I cannot wait to go back and explore the area with Michael and Orvis someday!

Lauren & Stephen have known each other for nearly twenty (!) years, and they’re getting married this Saturday (!) up in Kingfield, Maine! They met in the 7th grade, dated for a bit, kept in touch throughout the years, and then fell in love with each other all over again in 2006. As cute as their story is, Lauren & Stephen are even more adorable in person. The following are just a few of my favorite film photographs we took at the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain last month.

I have Sarah & Johnny to thank for falling in love with Biddeford Pool! They showed me around the area, where they’ll be married in just a few weeks(!), one summer evening and I was immediately taken with the lovely little village and the beautiful coastline. It probably didn’t hurt that they took me on a quick boat ride too!

Thank you for a wonderful evening, you two! I cannot wait to return to Biddeford Pool for your wedding so very soon!
